Charity for children Uganda

Who We Are

Ssedan Children Foundation (SCF), established on 26th March 2020, is a registered non-governmental organization based in Kampala, Uganda. We exist to empower and uplift underprivileged children through education, healthcare, nutrition, and spiritual growth inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ. From the slums of Katwe to wider communities, our mission is to restore dignity, hope, and opportunity to every child we reach.

Mission

To empower and uplift underprivileged children by ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, nutrition, and a safe environment.

Vision

To create a world where every child is safe, educated, healthy, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our Story

SCF was born out of compassion. Our founders witnessed children in slums struggling daily — collecting bottles for survival, skipping school due to hunger, and losing their childhoods to hardship. What started as a small response to urgent needs has grown into a home of love, encouragement, and empowerment. At SCF, every child is seen, valued, and given the chance to dream again.

A Word from the Director

My name is Ssemombwe Sunday, and I am the founder and director of Ssedan Children Foundation (SCF).

My passion for this work is deeply personal. I grew up in Katwe — one of the toughest, poorest slums in Kampala — where every day was a fight for survival. Life took a painful turn early on when I lost my mother at just two years old. Growing up without parental love or guidance made me understand what it feels like to be vulnerable, forgotten, and without hope.

I saw children just like me collecting bottles and scrap to sell for survival, many going hungry for days. Girls were forced into early marriages, and boys dropped out of school to work. Healthcare was out of reach, education a distant dream, and many children walked barefoot in torn clothes.

I know this pain personally because I lived it. And that is why I could not stay silent. I started Ssedan Children Foundation to be a voice for the voiceless — to make sure no child has to go through life alone.

Through SCF, we seek donors and sponsors who can stand in the gap and help these children access school fees, food, clothing, and healthcare. Our mission is simple: to give them hope, dignity, and a chance to dream again.

I believe that when you lift a child, you lift an entire generation. Every child we help today has the potential to become a leader, a teacher, a doctor, or someone who will change their community tomorrow.

So I invite you to join us. Partner with us to send a child to school, provide a meal, or give them medical care. Together, we can turn tears into smiles and struggles into stories of hope.

Because every child deserves more than just survival — they deserve a future filled with love, opportunity, and purpose.
